Rasha Mahmoud – Under the Spotlight

Rasha-Mahmoud-Spotlight

We’re incredibly grateful to all our team who work hard behind the scenes, supporting our clients with expert furniture consultancy and design know-how. This month, we wanted to celebrate Rasha who is marking her two-year anniversary after starting out as an intern with us in 2022.

We asked Rasha a few questions about what she’s learnt over the past couple of years and where she gets her inspiration from.

How did your internship help you understand the industry and develop your passion for design?

Interning at ChelseaGREEN was a real eye-opener. I got a solid grasp of the furniture scene, from start to finish, covering everything from FF&E specs to final delivery. It definitely fuelled my interest in furniture design and I have massively expanded my knowledge in this area, building on what I learnt at university.

What is your favourite part of the day?

The best part of my day is certainly kicking off new projects with the team. It’s where the magic begins. I also find working with clients on furniture and fabric choices very satisfying.

What have you learnt over the past two years?

Over the last couple of years, I’ve really dived into the world of furniture materials. Knowing the ins and outs of fabric, wood, metal, and more has been a game-changer. And big thanks to Jennie for schooling me on ergonomics! Having joined ChelseaGreen in 2022 as the pandemic began to ease, I’ve witnessed first-hand the surge in demand for interior refurbishments. It’s been an exciting journey to be part of this evolving industry.

What would you say to anyone starting out in design?

It’s really all about embracing the learning curve and soaking it all in. You never stop learning; design is a journey, not a destination. There’s always something new and so much to explore and experiment with.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Outside of work hours, I’ve been getting into crocheting—it’s my weekday unwind. And weekends? They’re all about quality time with family and friends.

What things inspire you?

Social media is my daily dose of inspiration. Whether it’s interior design vibes or checking out the latest in fashion, it all adds fuel to my creative fire. ‘Saving’ or ‘bookmarking’ ideas is like building a treasure trove of inspiration.
